Carl Adolph von Schachmann was born 300 years ago – a Lusatian free spirit, a nobleman in the service of reason, a researcher, reformer and visionary. He collected fossils and letters. He observed rock strata and social strata. He abolished statute labour and introduced lightning rods. He was a person who believed in progress and put it into practice.
Three hundred years later, two artists respond to his legacy – with sound, electricity and language: "Humanity is a tone. Progress is noise. History is a loop."
Carls FREQUENZEN is a "come and go" production in its purest form: an artistic experimental setup, field recording with sentences and meaning – a musical séance in the spirit of the Enlightenment, deeply rooted in the history of Upper Lusatia.
Free admission!
At 6.00 pm, the free vernissage of the exhibition "Reinterpreting Schachmann" will take place.
