We will commemorate ten years of independent broadcasting by Český rozhlas Liberec, which falls in 2026, on Tuesday, June 23, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in front of the Liberec City Hall, on Dr. E. Beneš Square.
It will be an entertaining afternoon full of music and dance. The Rozhlasový Big Band Gustava Broma, led by Vlado Valovič, will accompany Marta Jandová, a singer who has made a name for herself not only in the Czech Republic but also on the European music scene. Her hits like Barvy or Školíš mě will be heard on the Liberec square. Also appearing will be leading jazz and swing singer Jan Smigmator, who in 2023 debuted as the first Czech jazz singer at the prestigious Carnegie Hall (Zankel Hall) in New York.
The program also includes a Brazilian drumming show by Tam Tam Batucada. Their repertoire features carnival samba from the regions of Rio de Janeiro and Bahia. Dancers from the Základní umělecká škola Liberec, which celebrated 100 years since its founding in 2025, will also perform. And the Cikne Rumungre ensemble from the Roma association in Tanvald will dance.
"We look forward to all our listeners, supporters, and partners," invites Petra Heiplíková, communication specialist for Český rozhlas Liberec. "We will also see them at our traditional event - the Open Day at Modrá street 1048 on Saturday, May 16. This time, for example, with singer Pavel Vítek. And then again on Saturday, June 13, when the 6th annual March to the Královka Lookout Tower will take place," lists Petra Heiplíková. All events are free.
Český rozhlas Liberec has been broadcasting as an independent regional station since November 2016. Regular Liberec broadcasting was first heard on January 23, 1946, from the then-Municipal Library on Moskevská Street (the current seat of the Naivní divadlo). From July 1948, it broadcast from the Elger Villa on Alšova Street. In 1960, Liberec radio became a branch of the Ústí nad Labem station. In February 1999, the Liberec editorial office of Český rozhlas was re-established in the current building in Lidové sady. Since September 2006, the Liberec studio of Český rozhlas has been located in its own building in Zelené údolí.
