Connecting Stations is a site-specific movement performance that combines contemporary dance and music with the dynamics of public space. The Zittau railway station itself becomes a stage and resonating space for a cross-border artistic encounter. Choreographed duets and musical improvisation create a direct dialogue with passers-by and the audience.
The Liberec railway station will become a stage for the contemporary dance performance "Connecting Stations".
On Friday, 19 September 2025, at 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm, Zittau railway station will be transformed into a living stage: the dance performance "Connecting Stations" brings movement art into the public space and invites passers-by as well as a targeted audience to pause and marvel.
The site-specific performance combines contemporary dance with live music and creates an immediate dialogue with the dynamics of the station. Choreographed duets and improvised sounds merge with the surroundings, creating a space for encounters - beyond language, origin or age. The focus of this performance is on places that we often only pass through: Transit spaces in which - perhaps precisely for this reason - our paths cross.
The project is a collaboration between the dance initiatives Tanečno (SK) and MOVE Ostrava (CZ) and builds on the artistic research Passing/Station by Miriam Budzáková and Andrej Štepita. With "Connecting Stations", they open up new perspectives on movement, space and community.
In Zittau, the performance will be realised in collaboration with the Hillersche Villa, a project partner that actively promotes cross-border cultural work in the border triangle.
Free admission - spectators welcome!
There will be a discussion with the artists after the performance!
