The most beautiful ballads from the land before our time
For Dirk Zöllner, these are childhood memories. Songs by Lift, Karat, Biege, Biebl, Bartzsch, Lakomy, and many others.
In the final days of the GDR, he launched his own music career in Berlin with his band DIE ZÖLLNER – right around the same time, Manuel Schmid was born in Altenburg. The German attempt at a social alternative was already a distant memory when Schmid discovered the soundtrack of the East for himself. That discovery became an obsession, turning him into the frontman and creative force of STERN COMBO MEISSEN.
Friends for many years in mutual admiration, their occasional jam sessions have grown into a permanent ensemble. Together with André Gensicke on keys and Marek Arnold on saxophone and clarinet, they perform the musical heritage of the East in a wonderful, minimalist, yet emphatic way. This is no nostalgia show, but rather one filled with the utmost emotion and respect. In short: A labor of love.
A concert evening whose repertoire is constantly evolving, currently filling halls, souls, and hearts – what could be better?
