Berlin - Die Sinfonie der Großstadt is a visionary film experiment from 1927: a virtuosically edited silent film that tells the story of a day in Berlin as a rhythmic "symphony" of urban life. ALP enrich this classic film with their new live soundtrack: specially composed tracks of electronic, ambient and hand-played instruments merge bass, guitar, organ and laptop sounds into a contemporary sound bed. In this way, ALP lend the film emotional depth, modern expression and underline the dynamism of the metropolis. ALP were founded in 1998 - their name stands for "Aggressive Loop Productions". Their sound combines electronic sounds with classical hand-played music. Since its foundation, the collective has been composing individual live soundtracks that are specially tailored to the dramaturgy and atmosphere of silent film classics.
