Gwyn Ashton was born in Wales, but moved to Australia as a young boy. He started playing guitar at the age of twelve and by the time he was sixteen he was already playing in bars and at festivals. In 1983 he settled in Sydney where he formed his own trio and began recording albums after moving to Melbourne in 1991. In 2025, Gwyn Ashton returns to the world of blues rock with the album Grease Bucket and his electric power trio.
