The Jizerská 50 is one of the best-known and most prestigious cross-country skiing races in the Czech Republic. The first race took place in 1968 as a preparatory run for mountaineers preparing for demanding expeditions. The tradition of the race is also linked to a memorial event for 15 Czechoslovak mountaineers who lost their lives during an expedition to the Huascarán mountain in the Peruvian Andes in 1970.
Over time, a small race in the Jizera Mountains developed into an internationally recognized event, which has been part of the Worldloppet series since 1999 – a series of the most significant cross-country skiing races worldwide.
Today, the Jizerská 50 attracts thousands of participants from around the world – professionals, amateurs, and families. It is a symbol of tradition, sporting spirit, and a unique atmosphere that connects generations of cross-country skiers. The Jizerská 50 is therefore not just a race, but also a reminder of courage, endurance, and history.
