Visit the only museum of military field veterinary kits in the Czech Republic and discover the history of not only Czechoslovak military cynology. Tours start at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. We recommend booking in advance. Tickets for tours can also be purchased online.
The Veterinary Museum presents field veterinary kits from the equipment of the German, Soviet, and Czechoslovak armies from World War I to the 1950s. It is a unique and authentically preserved testimony to the care of animals serving in army roles.
On display, for example, are:
a kit for the detection and treatment of animals affected by chemical warfare agents
a narcosis kit intended for putting service dogs to sleep
a model of a horse used as an aid for teaching how to bridle and saddle a horse
a Czechoslovak kit for the treatment of carrier pigeons
modern cynological equipment
Visitors will also learn about the current use of the so-called lower castle at Grabštejn and its surroundings by the Czech Army. Those interested in the tour will also become acquainted with the dramatic story of a Grabštejn war hero – the military dog Atos, who participated in a mission in the Logar province of Afghanistan.
Tours start at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. We recommend booking in advance. Tickets for tours can also be purchased online.
