The play reflects on the relationship between two sisters – both actresses – against the backdrop of historical events in the first half of the 20th century, particularly the rise of Nazism, the course of World War II, and the events shortly thereafter. Open-air performance in the atrium of KC VRATISLAVICE 101010; in case of bad weather, it will be moved to the main hall.
The play is conceived more or less as a series of dialogues between the sisters. It begins at the moment Lída Baarová debuts in her first film at Barrandov, which launches her steep acting career. Her sister Zorka is only ten years old at the time.
The sisters are very different as individuals and hold completely different social and political views, which is the source of the play's dramatic principle.
The play also reveals that the often-condemned Lída Baarová was not a black-and-white personality. We portray her more as a young, reckless actress who is uninterested in political events and frivolously gets involved with a top politician. This choice has tragic consequences not only for her own life but also for the fates of the entire family, especially her sister Zorka.
The production team consists of current and former artists from the Divadlo F. X. Šaldy in Liberec: Markéta Tallerová, primarily in the role of director and, as she says herself, mental support, Markéta Coufalová (former member of the drama ensemble of Divadlo F. X. Šaldy and Divadlo v Celetné in Prague), Kateřina Kholová (former stage manager and actress at DFXŠ), and Jaroslav Němec (musician and sound engineer at DFXŠ).
