MarZ is a duo full of musical joie de vivre and forms the sound world of singer, guitarist and songwriter Markéta Zdeňková, whose style is somewhere between folk, pop and jazz. Her songs range from personal confessions to humorous wordplay and shamanic rituals.
She writes and sings mainly in Czech - where her fine feeling for language and the natural sound of her mother tongue unfold particularly impressively.
Alongside Markéta Zdeňková, the core of MarZ is formed by co-founder Štěpán Janoušek, trombonist and singer - an outstanding instrumentalist on the young Prague music scene. His musical style clearly characterises the band's arrangements. The first album Na rozcestí was a successful introduction to the sound world of MarZ.
