For over 20 years, British saxophonist Tim Garland, along with Pat Metheny pianist Gwilym Simcock and Israeli-born Soft Machine drummer Asaf Sirkis, has been celebrating acclaimed success on jazz stages around the globe. Garland played for 17 years alongside Chick Corea, who attested to his "unique genius." His virtuosity, his unique sound, and his ability to bridge the gap to European classical music have made him one of the most outstanding musicians in the British music scene.
A breathtaking live concert at the Sendesaal in Bremen during Jazzahead 2025 sparked an irresistible desire to invite the Lighthouse Trio to the Görlitzer Jazztage. It worked, and so the three musicians will do exactly what Tim Garland describes as follows at the Saal der Görlitzer Rabryka: "Just as a base jumper leaps from a cliff and surrenders to the adventure of their path through the air, we leave the safety of the composition and trust ourselves to improvisation."
“Few world-class jazz improvisers are comparably imaginative composers, but the British reeds player Tim Garland is that rarity.” (The Guardian)
