Festive concert for Andreas Hammerschmidt in cooperation with the Kammermusikfest Oberlausitz
Ensemble Polyharmonique
Batzdorfer Hofkapelle
In 2025, there is no avoiding Andreas Hammerschmidt in Zittau. This year marks the 350th anniversary of the death of the Baroque composer, who lived and worked in this city for more than 30 years. This is a great opportunity for a journey back in time: with the top ensembles Polyharmonique and Batzdorfer Hofkapelle, we head back to the 17th century in the historic Kirche zum Heiligen Kreuz, traversing religious distress and the joy of life in solemn mass movements and lively dances. A unique experience, especially for those who want to discover Early Music.
The event is supported by Mitteldeutsche Barockmusik using funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament, and supported by the State Chancellery and the Ministry of Culture of the State of Saxony-Anhalt and the Thuringian Ministry of Education, Science and Culture.
