Closing the boating season with the traditional Tamzpátky race.
Every beautiful season must eventually come to an end, and this year on October 17th, we will gather to ceremoniously close our boating season for 2026. The traditional Locking of the Jizera, during which boaters hand over the symbolic key to the river to brave cold-water swimmers – who will then carefully guard its chilly waters throughout the winter. Part of this pleasant autumn meeting is, of course, the popular “Tamzpátky” (There and Back) race.
An integral part of the Locking of the Jizera is the “Tamzpátky” race. The autumn route is reversed, longer, and therefore more interesting! Everything begins in Dolánky u Turnova, from where racers set off on scooters along the beautiful Greenway Jizera cycling path to Žlutá plovárna in Malá Skála. Here, they swap handlebars for paddles and enjoy the last wonderful descent of the Jizera this year back to the weir in Dolánky, from where only the final sprint to the parking lot awaits them. Individuals (men, women) and pairs (men's, women's, mixed, and adult-child teams for children under 14) can compete. Great rewards are always prepared for the fastest ones, including vouchers for experiences from SUNDISK family and gifts from event partners.
