Burg und Kloster Oybin
Perched high among the rocky peaks of the Zittau Mountains, the ruins of Oybin Castle and Monastery are a perfect blend of history, nature, and calm. Dating back to the 14th century, this historic site was used as a refuge for Celestine monks and a residence for Emperor Charles IV. Visitors can still admire the towering Gothic arches, the ancient monastery walkways, and the views of the spa town of Oybin below.
The walk up is short, but spectacular, revealing new views of the sandstone landscape at every turn. And at the top, explore the stunning ruins or enjoy summer-time concerts and medieval festivals.
