Städtische Museen Zittau
The Zittau Museum is one of the city’s most important cultural attractions and presents the history of Zittau and the Upper Lusatia region. It is located in a former Franciscan monastery whose history dates back to the Middle Ages.
The museum features a permanent exhibition as well as regularly changing temporary exhibitions. The permanent exhibition focuses on the history of the city, art, and everyday life in the region.
The museum complex also includes the Church of the Holy Cross, home to the Great Zittau Lenten Veil from 1472, one of the most important surviving Lenten veils in Europe.
The combination of historic buildings and valuable collections makes the museum one of the key sights in Zittau.
