Stacja Turystyczna Orle
A historic gem hidden deep in the forest, the former Orle glassworks stand in the peaceful valley between Jakuszyce and Szklarska Poręba. Today, this cozy mountain lodge is surrounded by thick woods, babbling brooks, and quiet trails and is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a hot meal. It really is a marvellous destination for hikers, cyclists, cross-country skiers, and families.
Tips:
👶 The lodge is easy to reach with a pram – take the asphalt road from Polana Jakuszycka (please note that this road supplies the lodge, so you might occasionally encounter a car).
🔥 In addition to the food and drink, accommodation, and equipment hire service available here, the Orle Tourist Lodge has a Finnish sauna right next to a mountain stream.
🍴 Spring and early summer are the time to sample the lodge's unique nettle soup. Its apple pie is also thought by many to be the tastiest in the Karkonosze Mountains.
✨️ The location is perfect for stargazing - it is part of the Jizera Dark Sky Park.
❗ Cash only.
🚶 The surrounding area is well worth exploring: hike 4 km to the Czech village of Jizerka, where the daffodils bloom in April, or take the Jizera trail for 6 km to "Chatka Górzystów" lodge, passing a unique model of the solar system along the way.
