The newly formed Outcrop Quintet is drawing attention with its unique take on modern jazz and fusion. Five experienced musicians from the Czech scene combine tradition with a spirit of experimentation, developing a clearly recognizable, technically-accomplished sound. The lineup includes bandleader and composer Ivan Paisrt Jr., saxophonist Petr Smetana, bassist Tomáš Sadiv, drummer Petr Eichler, and percussionist Ashutosh Kumar Arya. Their musical roots span jazz, rock, and pop. The focus is on improvisation: every concert sounds different, with classic jazz elements meeting new ideas and rhythmic diversity. At the Mandava Jazz Festival, the band demonstrated its artistic maturity and is now establishing itself as a fresh voice in Czech jazz.
