When siblings Beth, Fran, and Joe move to the countryside against their will with their parents, a very special adventure begins for the family. In the nearby mysterious forest, the children discover a magical tree: the Magic Faraway Tree, which reaches up into the clouds and is home to extraordinary creatures. They quickly make friends with the tree's inhabitants, Silky the Fairy, Mrs. Washy, and Moon-Face, who whisk them away into fantastic worlds. Together, they experience fairy-tale adventures – until, on one of their journeys, they are forced to make an emergency landing in the dark world of the dreaded headmistress, Dame Snap.
