Mozart's brilliant 1786 operatic comedy, with a libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte, based on Pierre de Beaumarchais' famous play of the same name. In May 2026 it will be exactly 240 years since the world premiere in Vienna - but Mozart's genius ensures that even after more than two centuries the work has lost none of its charm and relevance.
