Bar singer Evy Meara returns home from an alcohol rehab where she lives with her friend Tobby, who is in absolute denial about her aging, having won the title of beauty queen at school years ago, and her friend Jimmy, a failed actor who describes himself as the oldest beginner in the entire theatre industry. This life also includes Eva's lover ten years younger than her, guitarist Lu Tenner, and her immature daughter Polly.
