In the United States of the early 1960s, 19-year-old musician Bob Dylan (Timothée Chalamet) from Minnesota dreams of a breakthrough in the significant music scene of the vibrant metropolis of New York. With nothing but his guitar and sparse luggage, he begins performing as a folk singer in small clubs and soon starts selling out entire concert halls. With his moving lyrics and his mystical, quiet demeanor, Dylan climbs to the top of the charts in record time and quickly becomes a global star. Two love stories define his rise: one with Sylvie Russo (Elle Fanning), and another with singer Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro), with whom he frequently shares the stage. Yet, amidst the hype, the singer feels trapped and restricted in his artistic endeavors, ultimately culminating in a rebellious and legendary performance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, where Bob Dylan picks up an electric guitar for the first time.
