Film premiere by the dance company of the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz-Zittau
Free admission, followed by a discussion in the presence of those involved in the production
Filmed in the historic library hall of the Görlitz Collections for History and Culture, Baroque House, this dance film explores memory as a trigger for physical movement. From the stillness of reading, the dancers set themselves in motion in the room; impulses move from body to body and form parallel choreographic sequences in different places in the library.
A musical incision throws the fragile system out of balance: order tips over into chaos, directions of movement overlap, books become objects of searching, separating and connecting. Inspired by The Great Gatsby, intimate duets and playful group scenes are created in which relationships and roles shift. At the end, calm returns - the action comes to rest, like a book that is closed.
