Play by Sigrid Behrens | World Premiere | Ages 6 and up
Presale starts: June 09, 2026
Änne does not speak. Her parents are clueless and desperate. Änne does not speak – and every adult has an opinion about it: the parents argue, the doctor has no advice, because Änne is healthy, perfectly healthy. Even the teacher at kindergarten has no problem with it, because Änne is quiet amidst all the shouting of the other children. Änne does not speak – but she loves words. She collects them in a treasure chest and finds them too precious to waste. There are also people who understand Änne without many words at all. And animals, of course.
One day, Änne meets Bo. Bo speaks; in fact, he speaks a lot, so much so that the truth sometimes falls short. But Änne is drawn to Bo and Bo to her, because both are different from the others. And that has to do with words. Together they discover what making words is all about – whether it involves many words or just a few.
With "Worte machen" ("Making Words"), Sigrid Behrens has written a poetic, artistic, language-loving, and articulate play for people aged six and up – about language and silence, speaking and being silent, and about the love of words.
This is a continuous multi-day event
